Shanahan Engineering was founded in 1979 with a distinct focus on large Power Generation projects. Over the years the Company has grown consistently, reflecting the market sectors it serves.
In the 1980s Shanahan Engineering’s business extended beyond Europe into the Middle East and Africa with the Company securing field service contracts on large power projects in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Major Power Generation and Oil & Gas service contracts in West Africa followed and by the early 1990s, the Company had also penetrated the US market.
Also in the 1990s, the Company secured a significant field service contract with Westinghouse to supervise the installation of Teeside combined cycle power plant in the United Kingdom. This led to an introduction to MHI and today Shanahan Engineering celebrates a 16year relationship with this manufacturer. The Company also executed secured several large Construction Management contracts on Coal Fired plants across China.
In 2000 Shanahan Engineering was awarded a construction management contract by General Electric to oversee the installation of the world’s first "H" Gas Turbine technology at the Baglan Bay energy centre in the United Kingdom. In 2004 the company completed the installation of various peeking plant in Ireland. In 2005 the company was awarded significant contract by Mitsubishi Corporation to manage and install a 400MW combined cycle plant in Ireland. Work scope included the mechanical and electrical plant installation.
Today, Shanahan Engineering maintains over 4,250MW of operating pant in the UK and Ireland under long term maintenance contracts. The Company now has a presence on every continent, with offices in the UK, Italy, Japan and Turkey and representatives in the US and Switzerland. The company is currently active in the construction of power plants in UK and has a significant presence on various project locations. It continues to provide technical field services internationally in Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.
