Friday, 9th November 2007

Shanahan Engineering successfully completed the handover of Huntstown Power Plant Phase II within the time for completion.  This new facility consists of a 400MW combined cycle plant in single shaft configuration utilising MHI 701F gas turbine technology.  Shanahan Engineering was responsible for the overall construction and commissioning management of the project, and was contracted by Mitsubishi for all mechanical, electrical and instrumentation installation works, excluding the assembly of fuel tanks and air cooled condenser.  The project was completed within twenty four months from breaking ground in October 2005.  Using over 2 million man-hours through the gate, the project had two lost time accidents and an impeccable safety record throughout the construction period.
